Jessica Hokin (Founder) created Jaybelle Care after experiencing the difficulties in finding consistent, quality support services. As a sibling of a sister with a disability, she discovered the importance of people with a disability to have a strong passionate advocate.
In Jessica's experience, she found many compassionate and caring support workers, however she noticed a real need for individualised support coordination to guide them. By supporting and guiding Kate's support workers, we were able to make progress on her individual goals, that had not happened previously.
Jessica's sister; the heart and soul of Jaybelle Care! Kate has always been her shining inspiration and has shaped the person Jessica is today.
Kate has always been outgoing, affectionate and compassionate with a positive outlook on life. Something changed for Kate that made her feel like she needed to retreat and stay in the comfort of her home with her loved ones.
This made Jessica realise that they needed to change the way they approached Kate's care, and have a more holistic approach to her challenging behaviours. Kate's complex needs, especially with communication meant she wasn't always heard or understood. So Jessica needed to help be her voice.
They still have their challenges together, but guiding her caring support workers to understand Kate's behaviours have a purpose and helping them communicate with her in unique ways, meant as a team they get to help Kate live her life the way she chooses.
Most importantly they get to support her to continue to shine with positivity and an infectious smile.
Everyone deserves to be heard and supported by passionate, experienced and qualified support workers. That is why Kate is the reason Jessica created Jaybelle Care.
.
Because of these experiences, Jaybelle Care works holistically with a person-centred approach. Meaning, participants are the driving force in how we achieve goals together. It is not just about day to day care, but instead the whole picture of what helps empower participants towards independence, choice making and achieving their goals.
Relationships between support workers and participants are the most important factor, ensuring participants feel safe, confident and capable to make choices and express themselves.
